French toast? That with cheese on it or something?

[ french onion soup is one of the recipes they've picked up but he doesn't know where the name came from so he's just trying to imagine what toast and that soup could have in common. maybe "french" just means "with a layer of melted cheese on top". ]

Yeah. We'd talked a bit about maybe doing something like this back home, even, so I'd really hate to screw it up.
Was your thing just you at first or did you have other people working on it with you?

Oh, no. It's a way to re-use stale bread or just fresh stuff; you dip it in custard and either bake it or fry it in a pan, then throw fruit or syrup on it.

[ It is particularly one of Jean's favorites... he doesn't know why it's called 'french' either. ]

It was actually my husband Eren's idea originally. I did the cooking and he delivered it. It was just the two of us, but then it got bigger and we had to hire more people to cook, clean, deliver, do the paperwork... When he gave up doing it, I moved the kitchen to Stellari.
