my brain is mostly [ escaping air noise ] rn but
[ He turns to head to the counter, to the shelves behind there, from which he produces a robe that he offers to Reiner. ]
You actually clean up before you get in the water - there are some showers in the locker rooms, and we have soaps and shampoos if you want to try out anything.
[ Usually there's an upsell on that but Jean will pay because he's nice! ]
The idea with the bath itself - shared or not - is that you're soaking in the water to relax, kind of like the hot springs. The water here is good for your hair and skin, though, and you can scrub off again in the showers when your pores open up. Which is a good thing, or so I'm told.
[ Jean hasn't quite been sold on the idea of opening up pores, but he does remember his mother insisting the best thing to handle acne was a warm face wash followed by cold water, so it kind of tracks for him. ]

[ Reiner repeats the steps as he accepts the robe, confirming that he has them correct. Committing them to memory.
He sounds like he's reciting orders or preparing to execute a plan. Not at all like he's about to go soak in hot water and relax.
Then he frowns slightly, confusion in his eyes. ]
What do you mean by 'pores opening up'?
[ Warrior training didn't focus on skin care. ]

[ Jean heard that tone, mister, he gives Reiner a little nudge with one arm. As long as he takes a shower first, it's not a big deal what he does once he gets out. At Reiner's confusion, though, he motions to his own face. ]
They're like little holes on your face that are supposed to keep it from getting dried out. My mother said that them getting blocked was what caused acne when I was a kid.
[ Did... Titan shifters get acne? ]
According to the people that own this place, the hot water opens up your pores to clean them out and the minerals are good for your skin, then the cold water makes them close up again. Mom had me do something similar for my acne.

I'd never heard of them.
[ It's not as though Reiner's mother was nearby for him to consult during puberty. Although, to be fair, she probably wouldn't have been much help.
He manages a half-smile, acknowledging his too-serious tone. ]
Shower, soak, shower, and have fun. Got it.
I'll go start on the first part. [ He gestures to what he guessed is the locker room. ] It's that way?

[ Jean's tone has no heat, only the pain of every teenage boy who suffered a breakout. He even sighs dramatically, but rolls right into a smile when Reiner asks where the locker room is. ]
Yeah, it's that way, go get washed up. I'll come say hi when you get into the bath itself.
[ He gives Reiner a pat on his shoulder and leaves him to handle that part. ]
