[ Jean genuinely isn't expecting the next message, and it makes him jerk his head slightly, looking around the room as if that will explain it. ]

[ he says out loud, hesitantly, before he tries the next thing that pops into his mind. ]

[ Jean thinks it rather quickly, then reins himself back in a little bit. Curiosity coloring the thought rather than a 'tone', he replies: ]

Are you talking in my head? How are you doing that?

I made a wish at the Crystal. [ Which may be news, as it's only the second time he's done so. ] I got the idea from the games going on. Different colored teams can communicate mentally. I thought, wouldn't that be nice when I'm in my Armor?

So I made a wish. And it works!

[ A bit of a rambling explanation, his excitement palpable throughout. ]

[ Jean is honestly impressed at the forward thinking, and then can't help laughing out loud, which probably manifests as some amusement. ]

It's actually fun to turn into one. Not good for enclosed spaces. But they can run really fast.

'Connie has the gold potion; he turns into some kind of... Tiny red bear thing. Eren has two transformations, a dog and a seagull.'

He likes to sit on the windowsill and steal Jean's food, as if Jean wouldn't give him some anyways. There's a faint note of fondness.

'And now you and your rhinoceros. Levi had the healing powers, and Erwin and I have fire and electricity.'

What about Historia? And what about you? Have you thought about getting a gold potion yourself?

[neighsaying]

It is pretty darn cute, not going to lie.

[ He tells Reiner what Historia's is, because I don't remember and it's not on her info, and then there's silence for a moment. ]

Not really. If I get a second potion, I'll probably get a blue one.

So you can heal people? That sounds good for you, Jean.

[neighsaying]

Mikasa had the blue potion, too. Now there's not anyone that has it here in our group. It'd be a good backup.

Yeah, it would. But what if you need healing, Jean?

Maybe I should get it, too. So I can take care of you.

[ Blame telepathy for the rapid-fire frankness. ]

[neighsaying]

[ Jean almost answers 'Dolph would heal me', and has to hold back the thought that Levi would as well. The instant response from Reiner, though? That has him flushing a little bit. ]

Careful now. You're gonna make me think you like me or something.

[ A beat. ]

That's a joke, obviously I know that, we're dating.

It's safe to say that I like like you.

[ He's teasing, but the fondness is real. ]

[neighsaying]

Oh no, like-like? Next you're gonna wanna hold my hand out behind the horse shed.

[ Joking, but the fondness is also clear in what he sends over as well. ]

[ Jean tries something different, just to be a little shit. He thinks back to the first time they had sex here, the way Reiner looked riding him, and tries to 'send' the image. ]

[ Jean sends the mental equivalent of a loud cackle Reiner's way, enjoying his surprise. ]

It was hot, not gonna lie. I mean, I love you for way more than how you look, but you are incredibly fucking distracting even when you're not naked.

[ He's so caught up mentally curating and beaming moments of staring at Reiner's arms, chest, and ass at him, that he completely misses he said love instead of like. ]

[ Reiner, on the other hand, doesn't miss it. He's still flustered, getting bombarded by images of his own assets (haha), overwhelmed by all the evidence of how much Jean appreciates him. But "love" cuts through it all, searing his chest, branding his heart. ]

[ He asks automatically, his mental voice stripped of any barriers, any walls. He just can't quite believe: ]

[ Jean is startled when Reiner asks that, mentally rewinding the conversation. He had said that without thinking -

And honestly, although maybe some would say it's too soon, he can't find it in himself to regret it. It was a slip of the mental tongue, but he's not going to take it back. ]

[ There's a warmth that comes through, and this time the images that Jean sends are not titillating, but his own observations. Reiner's kindness with Gabi and Falco. Reiner, smiling a little as Connie and Jean talk to each other. Reiner's appreciation when Jean brings him food, his determination to return the favor. His gentleness with the animals around the farm.

A million little moments that make up the love he has for him. ]
